My testimony of Jesus began when I could start walking and talking.
My grandmother had nine children plus me to raise. She worked minimum wage and a lot of hard times, which brought her to depend on her faith by prayers. My aunts and uncles were teenagers by the time I could walk and talk. My aunts and uncles have their world that includes their friends they would meet with friends on Sunday nights, as we were Sabbath-keepers.
So you can say by now I grew up with some religious background, but not just religious, But a meaningful foundation of our Father in heaven.
After the teens left with their friends, my grandmother went to pray, and she took me with her. And there on our knees in sincere prayers to the Lord about all our cares. Talking to God was her only source of daily hope that also became my foundation of strength and hope, moments I cherish till today.
My grandmother and I would spend lots of time together: walking every day from her workplace and on our way, we would stop 2 or 3 times to visit a friend, mostly a single mom like herself, to help them with chores in their one-bedroom with many kids and encourage them and pray for them and give them what she had so they could have dinner. These moments would prepare me to serve everyone, love everyone, pray for everyone I would meet. So, growing up, I was mate with challenges, there I knew who to turn to and what to do without thinking about it. So from a very young age, I knew that God was real and that God cares deeply and that He heard me when prayer was my only connection to God and the future.
My heart was given to Jesus as a 16-year-old when I was at the end of my road. I talked to the Lord and asked where to go from here, and He said to go back to church and, I returned to the church.
The scriptures say:
Proverbs 22: 6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Philippians 1: 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
